I am thinking of getting a RRC with a 6.2 GMC v8 Diesel fitted and autobox.

Has anyone ever had or driven one, what are they like?

Reliable?

What milage will they do before they need a rebuild?

Will they run on a 50/50 mix of veg oil and deisel ok?

Will they do better MPG than a 3.9 petrol?

They go like ---- of a shovel. Just make sure you have a damd good gbox. Auto's are usually ok but manuals get chewed up and spat out. Bazz.

Sorry if this is inappropriate Mods, feel free to delete.

Good luck. But enjoy it whilst you can, if the Lib Dems or Greens get their way everything will have to be retro-fitted with a Honda 50cc running off Tulip oil.

I had a chev for ages with that engine, would pull anything anywhere BUT a bit noisy and a lot heavier than any euro diesel, I seem to remember the engine alone wieghed half a ton. Given clean oil, diesel and air they go on forever however most of the hassles one hears about them stem from starting. The loom has a relay timer/controller for the glow-plugs which is vital, too much pre-heat, even by seconds will burn out the plugs(£29 each), and/or eat starter motors. There are two flywheels and they have different numbers of teeth, get the wrong starter and you`re in for hours of fun, its held in by odd bolts too just to add to the fun. If the engine you`re buying does not have the harness to use the glow-plug relay or a starter motor then the only people who can help are in Cannock Staffs , West Mids American Car Spares. Good luck, you might discover the true meaning of under-steer but it`ll go on for ever.

Oh, it`ll run on anything faintly smelly,I got back from a rally in Bavaria on a 205ldrum of cooking oil, and it was`nt new oil, no turbo to worry about, its successor, the duramax 6.5 can put out 550ft/lbs and has achieved 750hp reliably,US navy use them for landing craft with no governor!

Sounds nice , will be first non electrickery diesel if I can find a good one, they never seem to have the aircon refitted after the conversion:doh:

I was looking at getting a RRC with one already in, I would like one with a catapiller v12 but I dont think I will find one lol :D
