What diff have I got?

I've just been looking at my '83 88" to fix the last few things before going for an MOT and one of the things that's being done is to fix a leaky rear diff.

It's obviously the seal, however which one do I have? Rover, ENV or Salisbury? Preferably without having to dismantle the diff just to find out...

From the final picture you can see there's what appears to be a f***** seal inside the diff. Reading through the magazine article in the gallery it looks as if this is part of it and the old one is replaced by splitting what appears to be fixed in there at the moment (same photo).

Is that the case?

Pity you didn't take a picture from the back, of the axle casing, that make diff identfing easy. But I agree with Sean, Rover.
Be surprising if it was anything else on a 88.

No need, we're sure, the comment was meant really as advise to the next one who needs a diff identifying

It's good practice to get a new drive flange as well as the seal.
put the seal into the axle with some silicone gasket sealant around it, then swamp the flange and seal with EP90 as you put the flange in. If you don't the Seal won't last 5 minutes.

Thanks, I'll look into that. The issue at the moment is time. I'm planning to have this thing MOT'd before I have to return to London in 3 1/2 weeks time so the plan is to get it through the MOT then replace bits that will need to be replaced once it's through. (E.g. I think I'm going to replace the sidelights / indicator holders as the springs are getting knackered and after a bit of bouncing around they have to be "reset" (read hit) to work).
