I was suprised by it, its still got cats and the oem back box, i did cut the small middle boxes out but never heard the difference

Changed GEMS thermostat today. Old one had several issues. Metal stat was rattling around in the plastic housing & was passing some coolant even when cold. When I tested it in garage kettle, it was opening up around 72degC, hence engine never got fully warm. Checked new one before fitting and that opens at 82deg like it should.

It serves me 2 main purposes, save me using the RR so much to save it getting so mucky inside even though i had to take it too unit today as yard was 6-7in of snow,
And to park behind it so if anyone hits somthing in this slippery weather its not the back of my RR again
Il have to go get it mapped or something tomorrow though its a bit slow compared to the RR

Took my green P38 for some new tyres this morning ready for MOT. Was running lovely after standing since Xmas, but on the way home it decided to dump hot coolant all over my left foot. Windows steamed up as well, but at least I was only 1/2 mile from home.
Not sure yet if it's the Audi matrix or one of the pipes split, but my guess is matrix. Most of the hot coolant has evaporated around the matrix & pipes, but remainder is on the floor. Dash will need to come out again, but the Audi mod has lasted since 2014.
Also found a unidentified box & battery underneath the underlay, when I propped it up to dry out. Google search says Motorola Tracker. Never even knew it was there & I've had the car since 2013. It's now disconnected & on the bench.

New O rings on the standard matrix have lasted something like 14 years now on mine

I found one like that hidden in the RH rear quarter of the LHD one when I was sorting it out.

Agreed, but the reason I changed it was because of cracks on the plastic where the screw goes, plus the aluminium pipes were not aligning correctly. Either way, it's a PITA to change.
