What did you do with your Range Rover today

True but there's also a reasonably expected lifespan. You'd expect a car to last longer than a biro. Dunlop airbags are expected to last 7 - 8 years so 5 is taking the ****.

And talking of taking the ****, my Jag has failed its MoT test on front ball-joints. Odd, I thought, as both sides had been done in the past 2 years. Original ones lasted 20 years and over 90k miles. The replacement ones from 2 years ago lasted 2 years and less than 10k miles. I am not a happy bunny.

Reasonable expectations are subjective ;) I totally agree with you, but one can say one, the manufacturer other. As well, there is a reason why people tend to say that in older times things were built better...

That may be 7-8 years of standard driving but my girl have an easy life compared to most busses 🤔
As well, with items that have rubber it seems that if they have been hardly used (i.e. standing for long times), it is as bad as having very heavy use, they do not last as long as with normal wear.

Yesterday was fun
Rear door was frozen shut, i gave up on that one. Drivers door was fine because I'd recently treated with silicone spray oil. Got in, door wouldn't shut!! Lock frozen open!!
That took 10 mins to sort out.
Halfway to work and already late, the rear door decided to unfreeze and popped open as i turned at traffic lights 🤭 oopsie

Had that with the Fusion, but only to the catch, not fully open.
Wipe pre icer round the upper seal before shutting doors helps a lot.

I think the motor is starting to leak rust around the seal and it's damp.
Stupidist idea ever!!
Suppose there's no way to fix it other than buying a new motor? Or can seals be replaced?
Currently the motor is fine so worth fixing before it leaks inside

Seems you can get a rebuild kit.. probably something i need to do sooner than later!
If second hand motors aren't dear maybe it's worth doing a swap then i can rebuild at my leisure and keep the car useable

Goog luck finding a good used one. BMW E46 one fits but you have to swap the cradle and move the magnet on the plastic gear.
Or you could move the washer jet
