mid 30s from the 4.4 is to be expected, the 3.6 usually hovers around 25mpg..

I wish ;).

Best we see is low 30s on a long run wearing slippers:)
But normal is around high 20s from guessing and the lie O meter.
The 405 gives better and would agree those figures are attainable.

But We don't care, you want it, and can afford it why not spend hard earned beer tokens on stuff that makes you happy:).

Oh yes my XJ does 8-12mpg so I agree, buy what makes you happy ;)

Took her for a trip into the muddybits on Sunday. Kept up OK, but everything else on the trip was a lot thinner than the ol' bus, so was a bit tight in places.

Also, turns out trees make great rust removal devices. I've ordered some kit to remove and repair the wing. Colour match will be gash because I can't paint for ****. But hey-ho. A lesson on procrastination I guess.

A model i'd very much like, From what I read that V8 was quite good
I'm not a fan of V8's but I have to say it stood up to Africa very well. I loved the MK2 Daimler/Jag, it was old when I bought it but apart from a bit of rust it never gave any trouble.
The XJS was the best car I ever had in terms of comfort and reliability, a real mile eater.

Funny thing is the reputation most british car brands had in the 70s 80s etc seems Jags were not too bad, both my Dad and Grandfather had Jags and all say the same, they were the best cars they owned... :)

I had an 3.6 AJ6 powered XJ40 2yrs ago, very good car it was too, only had it 6 months though, should of kept it..
