All wannbe Rangie owners. Maybe the HG failure makes him feel he is in the same reliability range.

Don't know about that, some of the reliability issues with some Freelander models seems pretty dire. Same as anything depends how they are looked after i suppose.

Drivers door lock getting intermittent again. Definitely the Open-Close microswitch, because all else works as it should, but getting the damn mislock indications. Sometimes closing the door gently but firmly sorts it.
  • Luckily I have a refurbished lock in the garage ready to install.
  • Unluckily I'm in Ferndown at the moment, and 87 miles away from my garage.
;)

Well now that MOT is sorted, time to look at a few niggles:

Noisy front windscreen wiper motor
Slight leak from oil cooler pipes
Lower tailgate latch

Had the aircon degassed last night. I asked for them to do a vacuum test to see if I had a leak.

Only a minimal amount of gas got recovered and at one point the machine gave a message of insufficient vacuum (or something like that!). Which basically confirmed there was a leak!!!

Got the condenser out last night to find traces of leakage. Would have had the new one and the new condenser fitted last night but the condenser to drier pipe was rock solid in the condenser and I found it was also damaged at the pressure switch. New one ordered at £75 - ouch!

Oh well at least I'll have the aircon back in time for winter!!! o_O

Replaced radiator and belts. Belts were very easy with rad removed. Also found that bottom rad nuts were missing, is that a problem? Installed anyway as need car at the moment.

Replaced the HEVAC bulbs and ribbon cable nice bright clear display now, sorted an air con issue by cleaning connectors on drier.
Replaced o rings on heater matrix had to drill head off the screw, reassembled with no drips.
Also cleaned out the air con drains,
