Yes but I'm not getting any fuel delivered to the FBH so I think the pump is either faulty or needs priming. According to the manual the Hawkeye does actuators for the FBH so hoping someone can confirm please.
Can you hear the pump ticking with a stethoscope or a long screwdriver? TBH I've only had experience with Ebspacher heaters which have a seperate fuel pump.

Unfortunately not as the fuel pump is at the back and according to RAVE the pump doesn't start for 30 seconds after the glowplug has fired.

Start Sequence: At the beginning of the start sequence the ECU energises the glow plug function of the glow plug/
flame sensor, to preheat the combustion chamber, starts the combustion air fan at slow speed and energises the
coolant circulation pump. After approximately 30 seconds, the ECU energises the FBH fuel pump at the starting
sequence speed.

Nice and simple then.good luck no wonder you want to know if diagnostics can do the job.I suppose if you know the wiring diagram you could check for power at the various pins.

Just cleaned the old beast up, for once it was dirty ;)

Apparently you can take the plug off the FBH and pulse 12v to the pump while someone else applies a vacuum to the pipe going into the FBH. Of course that means battery out, battery tray out, front wheel off, wheel arch liner off etc etc. I tried a vacuum pump after I changed the FBH but it needs the pump to be fired up at the same time so didn't do anything except hold the vacuum.

I know you asked about Hawkeye, But I am pretty sure the GAP IID does priming.

Cheers

Just make sure your battery is absolutely top notch.

I tried using my FBH the other week, ( it worked fine last winter) after a lot of months of not doing many miles, I tried to use it again, and it would not work. Even after a few hundred miles of 40 mile commutes it still did not want to know.

Battery starts the car fine but GAP stated it only had 46% charge.

I changed the battery went for a good drive today, just checked and finally it works.

Mine was trying to start, would blow the fan, for about 4 minutes, dash light would flash slow to start then flash twice as fast, then it would stop.

Cheers

Battery is fine and only a few months old, 12.6 volts, plus had it on a charger so I didn't flatten it. Yes I know some people think you should disconnect the battery before charging :)

Oh and I also have a "bmw scanner 1.4.0" that has options for FBH but I can only get that working on Windows XP and the XP laptops flat so need an extension lead to the car. And I don't know what options it has for the FBH until it's connected to the car.
