Get it on diagnostics and watch the live data on the height sensors and look for twitching. Are there any changes in height that makes the pump cut off. Removing the silencer from the block will give you a good indication of what is happening mate .

Seem to be! At least I've gone round connections trying to find a voltage between cable ends etc and the -ve terminal

Voltage drop test also between the alternator + and battery?

Battery fully charged this morning. Load test took it to 11.3v which could be worse. But only recovered to 12.3 after 5 mins, so i don't expect it to last the winter

I've been thinking, usually a bad idea i know, but sometimes my lpg system lights up even though the main fuse is pulled, wonder if this is my intermittent drain source???

Why can’t you read the current? You need tip top battery before most readings are valid anyway

I don't have suitable measuring equipment to measure up to 150A dc

It’s gorra be linked to the battery somehow cant all be 150a?

I'm interested in checking the alternator is pushing out what it should, before i get a new battery and ruin it

Do the rest I said with the engine running and everything turned at 2000rpm, that will tell the state of charge from the alternator.

Went to Matalan with Mrs Tricky to buy some sunglasses, any excuse for a run. Tomorrow it’s football match supporting my son. Next week MoT. Week after getting everything fixed lol.

Removed all 4 height sensors to check them like our @Mark Piercy suggested, all are well within tolerance with no erratic readings, this was at 6am mind you!

A spitz of contact cleaner on the connectors and all refitted, a quick recalibration done.. .

Went to work at around 8am this time it was a nice day in a wet field, oh what fun!

At the entrance I left her in standard..



Following the advices of 2 EAS experts I left work and locked her in motorway mode, this was to see if the constant adjustments on the roads I frequent was causing the pump to work a tad too much!

Originally the pump would be at around 68c after a good drive, this time is was only just barely warm!

The majority of the heat came from the engine bay IMO!

I put her in access mode and will leave her for a day or 2 to see if everything is still good..

What the hell draws that much?

For battery drain I use jump leads with the DVM in series to the battery. You need to close the door latch so it thinks it is shut. Let it go to sleep then start pulling fuses.

He got 3 electric ovens in there

You can tell when it goes to sleep with an auto by watching the blinky light

Changed the front air springs. Mounts needed a bot of rust treatment before fitting the new bags so took a while with gardening jobs in between while I waited for stuff to dry.

Haha not trying to find a drain, just want to see if the alternator is pumping out 5 amps or 50. It's supposed be 150A alternator...

Does the ampage not change with the draw of current? So the more things switched on the more current up to a limit of 150A?

That's my understanding

Now I can walk a bit without crutches I have given the old girl a good wash. looks a lot better and no doubt will feel a lot better for a wash and brush up. As for me I'm knackered, so its sit down time.

Swapped out a duff thermostat on my son's 38', it now actually warms up instead of overcooling the engine.
Oil cooler pipes and a front axle swap are next before the mot.
