Emptied P38 in readiness to pick up grandkids from school and their inevitable paraphernalia. Wondering if I should take the trailer too... Looking after them overnight, so effectively an unpaid taxi driver ferrying them between various activities until their parents return tomorrow night. REALLY LOOKING FORWARD TO IT! Thank goodness P38's now back on LPG!!!

Right, two bits of good news today.
  1. The plugs all look more or less the same so i don't think i have a dodgy coil which is a relief at 70 quid a pop!!!
  2. When i took the inlet ducts off for access, the rubber insert on one of them was badly seated so my hope is that i had an air leak and that was the major cause of my issues (Just hope it's not damaged the CATS)
New plugs on the way and i'm going to change the LPG filters whilst I've got access (Been sitting on the shelf for 6 months!!)

Now time to have a look why the horn doesn't work.

Are they supposed to have a gap you can drive a bus through?

1mm gap quoted in manual. I didn't have my feelers to hand yesterday so measured them with 5 pieces of 0.2mm shim steel and they are slightly big but by no means excessively so.
I agree, they did look massive when i took them out although, there is a fine pin that sticks up on the centre electrode which you might not be able to see on the pic

Next bit of good news is, looks like the clock spring and horn buttons are fine.
It had a heath robinson button on a lead down the side of the drivers seat so i assumed the steering wheel button or clock spring were duff.
Just put a new fuse in and the relay clicks fine with the steering wheel buttons so now just need to strip out the crappy added in wiring, test the horn itself and reconnect.

Never ceases to amaze me what people will do to avoid a bit of simple trouble shooting!!!

0.044" or 1.10 mm, all i can say is a mm must have got bigger with inflation. :D:D

Ok 0.039" then. I am sure the extra 0.005" makes a big difference. :D:D
Don't get snotty, i was just pointing out that it's not 1.1mm but 1.0mm. Yes, it won't make any difference in the real world but it's still not right.
As to the conversion to thou, again, who cares?!?!?!
Knowledgable as you are, you are still a grumpy old toad!!!!

Think you need to develop a sense of humour. ;)
