Damaged housing or shaft allowing Fluid past?

I looked at the flange and thought it could be smoother. A neighbour has a lathe so took it round and polished with wet & dry with some oil. Definitely smoother now.

On refitting made up a wire spacer the thickness of the lip and then fitted to the flange (with washer and nut) and screwed the new seal into place. Hopefully that will make sure it went in straight with no damage. Undid nut, took out flange, got rid of spacer and then reassembled the flange adding the rubber and metal washer.

Hopefully the polishing and new method of fitting the seal will work. Otherwise it will be a complete flange kit.

after bedding the new discs on the L322 re set the parking brake adjustment. gave it a clean. carted a new washing machine home in it took the old one to the dump in it.

vacummed it out. looked at removing the glovebox to get to the approach light relay behind the fusebox, though sod it. too much trim to remove to remove, too warm.. leave it for another day

Yep being the load lugger and workshop suits its character ;)
Got to totally agree there What a workhorse that vehicle was Shame about the rust worm that took it in the end. Took me to Europe 4 times all over Britain 3foot of snow nothing fazed the beast. After nearly 12 years a tear in the eye when she went
