It was about £60 with free map updates for life. Just a shame they haven't got any new maps to update it with.

I paid a couple of hundred quid for a Garmin back in 2007 with quarterly updates for life for £99. Still going strong and is an excellent bit of kit, much better than any of the Tomtoms or similar I've tried in other people's cars.

I got a Truckmate, it duz my trucks and car, you can choose what you want at the time, and put the measurements of the truck in height width ect, it will give you free cams, but not map updated after 2 years

I've got a Garmin for the bike which is a good bit of kit but wanted something a bit bigger for the car.

I think my Jimway is a truck one with vehicle size settings, not much use in a FFRR but it's good enough for my occasional use.

They are handy, taking you around low bridges and narrow roads, and give you the correct speed limits, and warning you of sharp bends

With air

Erm... I support the sides on something and leave them air suspended in the sun out back on the flagstones for the day reinstall in evening. like a washing line
There is an older pic on this thread (page528) but we lose track when I start breaking things, dopes broke his step, stole his Mrs pegs and Brian ate all his custard creams. May be a pic after not sure? They came up okay

Still not made my mind up what to do, tommy tomtom is that old its not supported any more and for how often I need one now I dont see the point in paying out loads, see over on fullfatrr couple of guys got the xgody and it took them where they needed to be in france , friend of mine has had 9 inch version in his truck for couple years now with no problems.

I've used a few free ones from the play store on a tablet which worked ok. Got us from manchester to the otherside of France. And around spain in a hire car on a couple of other trips.

I have an Xgody smart phone £35 new, it's excellent, bought one for my wife too. Comes up on my service provider as an Alcatel 311, made by Xgody apparently, they were selling off the old 3G model cheap as production shifted to 4G. As 3G has only just arrived where I am, 4G is of no interest.
Got an xgody phone on my ebay list thinking about it to replace the huawei 530 I`ve had for years but a friend is due to replace his samsung galaxy s8 plus soon so might have a look at that instead at least I get to handle phone first.

So thats what I did with my car today drove it to the barbers to get my hair cut then call at my mates to look at his dads car for him.

That's what I have, the Nuvi 360T (they chucked in the traffic dongle for free but it has never worked. Maybe a London thing?).

You can put an SD card in and then add extra maps. Only issue is that in order to get the world on you need about 6 files but it only handles 2 at a time so if you are doing a round world trip you have to rename the files on a computer as you go round to get them recognised and loaded.

I have Waze on my work phone and found it very good when stuck in other people's cars.
Be careful when using Waze full time, I used to use it (and a different app for driving trucks) on my old phone, and after 2 years, it burnt the HUDs into the phone screen.

For that reason alone, if you're a heavy satnav user, buy a stand alone unit. If it is occasional use, it should be reet.
