What did you do with your Range Rover today

George is running, no petrol leaks and so on....However, the prop is snagging the tank, so there is a pronounced tick tick tick which is obviously no use :mad:

We know the problem is due to the filler hose being too long. Pain in the ass, but ultimately repairable.

Got a phone call from the indies who are bleeding my brakes, doing some diagnostics work and MOTing it.
Turns out the old crate now has excellent brakes and more importantly passed it's MOT with flying colours except for one thing.......
The old low brake fluid warning light - so they are determined to get to the bottom of this - nothing came up on the diag (they use autologic, I think) and I've changed the abs modulator, sphere and brake light switch.
The cars all good to go apart from this:(
 
LBF warning can also mean the pads are low.

You need to check the level when the engine is running too......
 
Well, I have checked the pads for that very same reason and of course checked the level with it running as you kindly said.
I will however get the garage to confirm that the pads are OK - certainly the fronts are and I thought the rears only looked part worn say by a third but thanks for the suggestion anyway.
I will post the outcome -I'm so pleased that every else was ticketyboo on the test.

I'm just trying to suggest things the garage may be trying to 'ahem' pull a fast one ;)

The other possibility is a low level indicator fault o_O

Well, George is running with the new tank and no leaks....BUT....

I ordered the plastic ring for holding the pump/sender unit, but the guy managed to order a sealing gasket by mistake :confused:

No problem, I needed a new one anyway. But it meant we had no way of holding the pump in place and George was hogging the ramp :eek:

So, I fabricated one from a much larger BMW ring, a jubilee clip, a grinder and a lot of swearing :p

It may look shite, but it's well and truly sealed... New one is in today so back to the mucky muck tomorrow, also fit the foam and stuff... Foam?

We knew the fabricated tank bracket was loose, so dafty here forgot to take the foam to pad it out (y'know the stuff, available in packs of four, aprox 2ft x 2ft sq, can be fitted together to make a soft floor for kneeling on, comes in grey, pink, yellow, etc... I have some in grey. I digress.

Also, the tank filler hose was a smidgen too long so when I took her for a test drive, the rear prop could be heard ticking against the tank, so I reversed back and parked it up. It's being sorted tomorrow. However, we also plan on fitting a strap each side of the tank. So it will be held up by the bracket and held "in" by the straps.

I have NO idea what the original tank brackets look like as none are available, but mine is tread plate, formed length ways to fit the shape of the tank. It is held to the car with brackets.

Doo, the thread plate looks good and adds a bit of protection as well and won't rust so a win win from the way I see it

Thanks Brian. I asked the firm who supplied it locally what they would recommend and this was the stuff. Light and durable. Pretty happpy :)
 
Nothing but drive it seems the engine mount and getting a proper seal on the standard exhaust has got rid of a slight vibration/pulseing so I'm happy to report all is working :eek::eek::eek::eek: I know iv doomed my self, so I'm getting the bits together to finally install my LPG kit just need some connectors for the vaporiser and faro pipe to connect the tank to the front end. What have people got 6mm or 8 mm ????.

I just removed the under slung LPG tanks, you're welcome to them. They are intact and have some bits & bobs on them. I am keeping the doughnut tank though, or I would have helped you out.
 
Thanks doo but iv got a spare wheel well tank sitting here waiting to go in I just wanted to make sure I use the right size hose from it to the front I'm thinking 8mm just to be sure I don't cause fuel starvation when on gas

It'll be under pressure so I imagine it will be fine. I rather think mine is 6mm...
 
Not today but yesterday... Took the day off work and:

Replaced the brakes and sensors front and back, new drumsticks and ball joints, changed the battery, changed rear hub upp ball joint and lower suspension joints on both sides and got the garage to fit 4 new tyres.
