What did you do with your Range Rover today

Look out for customs duty and TVA if the trailer is new:eek:
Realised I may not have made this clear.
We are travelling with a trailer and Wifey's car on it, so she doesn't have to drive all the way to our place as she cannot do long drives now. Too old and takes too many drugs for her disability, (serious back problems). This is why she drove off the road asleep one journey a coupla years ago.
So her car will be on the trailer when we go back there in May, and again when we return in September.
When we go over next week we'll be in just one vehicle, the Disco.
We are aware that the French are clamping down on peeps taking DIY materials over. anything over £300 and you get stuck for VAT, but you are still allowed to take tools with you. As I understand it.
We'll have to se what they say, but as far as I am concerned it ain't much different to a caravan or a car on an A frame.

Make sure you have the purchase invoice for the trailer with you. As it's over 750Kg there may be other problems as trailers over 750Kg have to be registered, but I really do not know. Might be better to buy a cheap car down here and keep it in France for use when visiting. The EU and in particular France are going out of their way to be difficult at the moment.

Well iv got a week over in the west coast starting the end of next week then sadly I think im away to break it up for parts,
Haven't chosen if i want to go for another td6 or an early 3.6tdv8 yet,

According to gov.uk you are OK if the trailer is not commercial and is less than 3.5 tonnes. It's no different to visiting a country with a caravan.
If we had a garage we would buy a French car, I have always wanted to do this. But cars, even not very good ones, seem to be so expensive.
Having already been burgled twice and broken into twice more, we aren't keen to leave one there.
If we built a garage now we'd have no money for the car!! The big problem is Wife is so in love with her flipping Pluriel and driving it around in France with the roof down. And it is actually a very practical car for us.
I agree the French govt is making things difficult, but fortunately we find the French people still being reasonable. And it does help that I speak good French, having taught it for 34 years. That opens doors and gets favours I might not otherwise get. We also get our paperwork absolutely right so no trouble at the port. In fact I normally have a friendly convo with them when they are doing the paperwork, which must be a bit unusual for them. But I do realise that they have to follow edicts and orders.
Always very grateful for your advice.:):):)

Good luck with your trip, where are you located in France?
On the odd occasion when I have been stopped by gendarmes for a roadside check, they are always surprised when I respond in French, it certainly smooths things. I have found all the French very friendly.

Near Mazamet in the Tarn. 600 metres up in the Montagne Noire, near the Lac de Montagnes. "Montagnes" should be spelt with an "e" grave but I cannot do it on this pooter!
Thanks for the good wishes!
(We aren't very near Poitiers then.:()

If you are using a PC, alt Gr held down when pressing e gives you é, alt key and enter 0232 on the numeric key pad gives è Hope I'm tell telling you what you already know:) On most Android devices, you can switch between qwerty and azerty very easily.

ééééé I knew about, and somewhere I have written the codes down for the letters needed for French, but I am used to doing them by keystroking in Word. Don't have Word on this pooter. so è, AHA!
I have learnt summat , cheers, Mate!!!
The Tarn has some fabulous scenery, one of the best kept secrets in France. Friends from other areas in France are astounded by it when we take them out on trips. Also we are near the Minervois wine area which we fill our cellars up with in both countries. There are prolly over 100 producers in it now and they have a festival once a year, normally. Tastes en Minervois. We are also relatively close to Gaillac but we don't like them so much, i think we have got used to the taste of the typical wine varieties of the Minervois. But you are spoilt for choice where you are, Loire, Haut-Poitou, Poitou-Charentes etc. Even Bordeaux not too far away. We have friends who live just north of St Emilion. The husband used to teach English in a Lycée de Viniculture. He really knows his stuff! Somewhere he has a certificate to say he can tell 20 different Armagnacs apart just with his sense of smell, and I have seen it!
But I am waffling again!
Enjoy your Sunday evening:):):)

Joking aside I like the french. They've always been very friendly. They're individualistic, trying to retain their national identity and fight for what they believe is right. They have the right opinion of their leaders too.

It's been a long time since I had a Classic but from memory inner tubes were not recommended I was once told.;)o_O
I wish that were so, sadly the wheels have "tubed" stamped on them, so figured better safe than sorry. Plus they won't be doing many miles on Brown Rover (especially not with the price of petrol now!) so at least a puncture will only cost the price of a new tube, not a new tyre. Trying to look on the bright side, it's been a PITA to sort. Brownie will look much better on the right wheels though :)
