Had a root around see what I need to get done for MOT. Standing all lockdown in the garden does look bit green around the edges and slightly rustic underneath  Will all come out in the wash I suppose. Tyres inflated, new battery on and double checked the RF, door card back on from god knows how long ago I took it off, rear washer jet working, one headlight unit not coming on , greased door hinges. Warmed it right up to temperature then tried a restart. Nope having none of it
Works fine cold though! and the lad had great day out playing he bloomin loves it in there!

Sat in it for a bit Mark. Makes me feel better :) just hope tyres stay up

Check connector for headlight. I've done mine twice now as they get pretty nasty.

Excelllent, I find you need three hands with most soldering, one of them will make it so much easier:)

Although I like the sound of the wheels this saddens me. You shouldn’t give up on your quest, just realise there are no minters to your standard you will pay silly money for the same issues we all have. This shouldn’t put you off it is part of the parcel of ownership of these vehicles and you know you’ve always wanted one. I took the plunge on a non runner and it’s been worth all the heartache. Find one you like that runs with full mot and get it, you can bin it in 12 months but I think you’ll feel differently by than :)
No mate. I am 100% done with P38's now buddy. Far too many let downs and issues. I have had enough and all my bits are for sale now. I WONT BE LOOKING for another again.

Totally agree, I know your minds made up Brendan but as DT says, find a goodish one and make it a minter like you did with all of your classic motors. What else are you going to do with your time. I paid good money for that import but always thought I’d need to spend on it to get it to a standard acceptable to me. Don’t give up on a P38 mate. Keep the kit you have and let the dust settle!
That is why Rich i am selling it all off now before the dust settles on it all. LOL.

Put them to the back of the garage, you will need them:). You haven't really given up your just disgruntled at the moment. One will turn up when you least expect.

As has been said by many and me you will be the 1 to make it mint as any will not be fully showroom (your standard) till you have it in your garage.
So accept some minor issues as long as body is good then the rest is easy with all the help on here.

Unless you are moving to the L322/405 TDV8 8speed:D:D:D:D as i must admit there is a huge diff so wouldn't blame you. But of course the warnings are still the same, a badly maintained 1 will eat contents of your wallet for coffee break before moving on to lunch:eek:.
