I have to torque most things or i end up doing too tight and breaking something, or too loose and things fall off.
I'm working on the basis only a clown would forget to do it
I think it's best practice really, torque settings a lot of the time are to prevent over-tightening, things like mounting brackets on non-critical stuff are fine with just a "nip",
I too have sheared off bolts in the past but, it's not difficult with a 10mm socket on a 1/2 " drive ratchet:rolleyes:

I dropped the becm & ecu off to Rick today luckily enough I had 6 new Audis for Brighton what a nice fella came out and met me bit tight getting car transporter down his turning

a new client today. 4.2sc model on a 2005 plate. Dead coil pack after just 8mths?? Delphi replacement as well!!.
18mpg?? Fu k that:rolleyes:

just been out for a short drive, MUCH quieter in every way, though seemed to be running on the warm side, 97c by the time i'd moved into place on my driveway. I gave the radiator a flush while it was off so that should be good, water came out clear.
It felt somewhat down on power a bit too!! not sure why that would be

Took the offside wing off ready for it to be collected for a paint eyematch as the bonnet & scuttle panel need repainting.

New box of tricks came through today.

Nice shiny new throttle body heater! mine has been leaking for around 4yrs!! LOL ;)

The leak has been somewhat stemmed by me covering the old gasket in RTV, however it still leaks enough to drop the level in the expansion tank..
And its annoying!

To pull it off the throttle body has to come off 4x 8mm for the body to manifold, then 3x 5.5mm bolts for the heater itself, lastly disconnect the throttle position sensor and crankcase breather and its out! ;)

The throttle body itself needed some cleaning, I just rubbed he mating surface with some cutting compound to remove any rough spots.
