Do you re-set your fuel/trip computer each time you fill up to clear the residual memory of the fuel computor?? also is that 15 mpg poodling around town or on a motorway at crusing speed say 65 ish??? Have you tried a K&N panel air filter in your air box as these do help a little or do you just drive it like you stole it hence only 15 mpg. LOL
Well, when I go for a drive it's country lanes but very steep hills and maybe the occasional 'detour' on a few tracks. Then there's the pooling around town or the 900m drive to the local coop and back. Because its cold. And I'm lazy. And I won't take the diesel Audi on such short journeys.

She'll happily sit at 22+ on a longer run on the bypass or motorway.

K&N filters are rock catchers not filters, they flow very well at the expense of filtering as you'd imagine you can't really have one without the other.

Look inside your intake hoses mine had a nice coat of dust which magically disappeared after fitting a proper Bosch paper filter..
The Oil on K&N almost always finds it way on to the MAF too which causes no end of issues.
I didn't notice any drop in performance or MPG without it..

15mpg is about right if it is crawling around town or doing short journeys with steep hills etc

Mine will usually do 18 around town and the best was 26mpg on the M4 at 2600rpm which is around 70mph ;)

done with a brim to brim, no trip comp nonsense, however mine is accurate to a few tenths so it can usually be trusted.. ;)

The local LR specialist is a shooting buddy and I recon he lend them but no reason to think it won’t have the reg by Thursday. The DVLA check had been cashed a week or so ago according to the dealer and documents usually follow soon after.
Finger crossed then buddy for you. Has he given you a reg number yet so you can insure it?? if so you can just log onto the dvla and run that plate through and it will tell you if its taxed, M.O,T and insured and also when the M.O.T was done too. Great tool nowadays. Dealers hate it. LOL

The k&n panel filters also come with an oil, at least they did when I was running them on high performance V8's a few moons ago.
Yes they are pre-oiled out the box to straight fit. I have one of those K&N service kits which i use on mine every other year albeit i still take it out come service time and check/clean the box for dust/bugs etc and gently hoover over the pleates of the filter then pop it back in turning it 180 degrees

Thats good then if she creaps up on the motorway and i would say your 15 mpg is about right then for local too and fro drives.

Ive always said each to their own buddy on anything in life.

Replaced coolant thermostat on the P38 DT as she wouldn't warm up. Original BMW marked 1994 thermostat stuck in open position. Had the same occur on my previous P38 diesel with original stat. Removed engine cooling fan and shroud as viscous clutch not operating as on my previous P38 also.
Next job wiring the a/c fans to aid cooling.

Wondering if I need a second mortgage for all the screen wash this thing uses, gone through 5 litres in the last two weeks. Ok maybe the 1000 Miles and the crappy weather with all the road salt is more to blame, but it drinks the nice smelling stuff.:p:p:p

Cheers
