Anybody any idea what could cause this? went out this morning and the door mirror is weird. Dark outer edge with a clear spot in the centre like a strange movie image.
It wasnt especially cold last night and the other mirror is fine.

Mine supposed to be heated, doesn't work though, new ones are eggspensive!! My other car has them, it's a genius feature really. They just need to invent an auto dimming windscreen to filter out HIDs

Age. There's a very recent discussion , somewhere, on it. New replacements start around £300 on the L322, not sure about P38. You might be lucky and get a new, old , part.

Interesting, it only shows electrochromatic mirror for LH side and no mention of heated, I think I'd be ringing them up to confirm as that seems very cheap to me.
best of luck talking sense to them over the phone ( i did say it was swearing) as their local to me i always find it easier to pop in and explain to the old guy rather than talk to the young lad

Thanks guys. I think i'll have a look next time i'm in the UK as it's just taken 4 weeks to get some other parts shipped out here. Never used to be that bad in the past, since the Russians took over everything has to go via Moscow and sit on somebody's shelf for days on end and after all it is still working as a mirror just has a weird look.

Are they auto dipping too when you select reverse?? A Vogue SE feature i think as well as electric headrests. I bought a new heated glass for my old Westminster and it only cost me i think £20 off ebay delivered and it was brandnew in the box.
The auto dip comes with electric seats. Cars with manually adjusted seats don't have the auto dip function, strangely.

My DSE started life with manually adjusted seats, no auto dip. A few years ago, I happened upon a set of electric seats still with the original grey Connoly on them and so I grabbed them. Installed into my DSE- the harness is all there so it was a true plug and play and..... Presto! Auto dip!

Only mine would auto dip and not auto come back when you disengage reverse, something to do with the position potentiometers in the mirrors I'm told, so I disabled it. Ignition on, put car in reverse, hold down "Seat Memory" button on your driver's seat until the car beeps. The mirrors have enough viewing angle that I've not missed the auto dip and in fact find it quite annoying in that it'll show me the nearside rear wheel, allright.... but I lose sight of the rear bumper! I'd rather have the mirror permanently fixed in a position showing the end of the car and enough of the tarmac that I know I'm not rolling over somebody's baby, which is quite easy given aforesaid wide viewing angle.
