What diagnostic tool (software/hardware) should I get?

I've just entered into p38a ownership. And I'd like to get some kind of diagnostic tool to allow me to reset anything that might throw a fault code.

Are there any recommendations on some good diag tools for this. Don't mind if it's a laptop app, handheld or something else.

Think it's nanocom by all accounts.

+1. Very happy with mine. Not the fastest and whizziest thing but by far the most versatile for the money.

If you read any of the threads, you would see that Nanocom comes out on top followed by Faultmate Extreme MSV II.

And then probably the Hawkeye.

I think there were conflicting reports on what the Lynx could do. Anyone got one?

Mine escaped into the woods at the bottom of the garden, lots of cats and small dogs going missing at the mo.

Thanks. So for example if the BCM and ECM need re-synching. I could do that with a Nanocom?

A Nanocom will do pretty much everything the LR professional kit will do

Nope, just being proactive more than anything. But have seen it first hand.

Went to pick up my p38 on Saturday morning, finished off the paper work/money, went out and jumped in it to drive it home. And wham wouldn't start. And it was this issue. As luck would have it, we got it recovered 5 miles to a local 4x4 specialist who reset the code in about 3 mins. So no real harm done. But I think having something like a Nanocom will be a wise investment and as they are a bit pricey, wanted to make sure I was getting a worthwhile one.
