just wondered what you guys were using for an aerial when you have the roof bars/roof rack cage type fitted as im going to be permanently mounting mine but I get interference when I have it on

yeah the radio, not sure on the shark ones, not sure how they mount. i was looking at the little "beesting" type ones but had one in past and it was pants

id imagint they mount by undoing the nut holding current one on them swapping it out?, i bought a replacement from bms spares (dunno if nationwide) and its just got enough flex to sneak under my thule roof bar when i got stuff on the rack

no just take the light fitting out if it is a 5 door but be warned I had one of those bee stings on my old one and you can loose the signal very quickly as they are not very big
now on this car the antenna is strapped to the roof rack with a cable tie

If there's a gap between the head lining and the roof I bet I could hide an aerial in there and just tape it down and maybe fit a bee sting for the look ( agree they are pants)

I used to have a Granada back in the 90s with the hatch on the back and the rear window was used as the aerial.it had a amplifier attached to the inside of the hatch and it was the best I ever had the reception was unbelievable it would pull in my local radio station at home for 80/90 miles away I just might start looking for one of those amplifiers and do a mod

Bit like this:

Personally I would just use my existing and tape it too the rack

hmm may have a look into running it under the head lining, 3 door so got the t bar roof, may be able to peel that back, i did have one of those power booster thing in my old series that seemed to work, may try another one of those.
