rear caliper stuck on in van this morning,so i thought i would take disco and tow the trailer with me,
got it loaded around 2 ton on the trailer then headed off on a 50 mile hike to my job,
its a wondery old beast at the best of time,but 45 or over was wobble time weaving everywhere,hit a hill not very steep,transmission light came on,then it started to get hot engine sidehad to drive for a couple of miles before i could pull over was cooking by this time,thought i,d feked it big time,pulled into petrol station had started cooling down by this time,left it ticking over for 5 mins and cracked open the reserwire cap for an early morning sauna,switched it off coz there was water everywhere ,topped it up a little went to start it and battery flatwas abit ****ed with myself by this point,anyway got it going with a jump and drove it the rest of the way to job 16 miles temp got hot a couple of times as did transmission,
on the way back with empty trailler it was fine no overheating or wobbling around,
result is in this state its not going to be much use for winter use at work if it wont pull trailer,is there anything to check/change so it wont happen again,my old disco transmission light used to come on when towing but only on long uphill streaches
on the plus side i am glad i didnt totaly wreck it when it got hot,just goes to show they take abit of punishment.
