Just changing the oil on my 200 tdi defender. For some reason I just stuck my finger in the sump and found a small piece of metal pictured below. I don’t know how long it’s been in the and can’t see any other bits in the waste oil.

Anyone who what it’s from please?

I take it it’s not magnetic?

is it a bit of a thrust washer?

I don’t know but can’t think what else would be in there.

Needs better/closer pic, and something for scale, ie ruler etc.
I would say it looks to tight a curve for thrust washer?

Easy to check crank thrust, prybar/screwdriver behind crank pulley, and see how much it moves back and forth.

Maybe post in the 200 section? a couple of members have recently rebuilt their engines, so may recognise.
