Went to the gaylander today and found the boot space sliding hiding thing had dribbles of water on it - opened the door to find the OSR roof lining ringing wet in the area that the top of the rear glass closes. Door glass opens and closes properly and nothing looks damaged so is it a dodgy seal?

Car was parked on a cambered and hilly road overnight, has rained constantly since late yesterday afternoon and the effected area is where any water would logically collect.

Tried search function but came up with a google error.

Any ideas?

2002 TD4 5 door.

Do you have a sunroof? if so perhaps this could be leaking and the water is running to this back corner (assuming the car was parked facing uphill) if not then it must be the window seal I would say or maybe the the plastic capping the runs along the rear of the roof above the back window is needing resealed.

if you were to remove the rear plastic trim across the window you will access the top of the seal , a plate with 4 big screws, if you take this off, you will find the seal has debonded, put it back with oodles of silicon, once you have fitted the plastic trim run a bead of silicon along the gutter to seal it all up, if you use black it looks factory fitted. occasionally it can also be seals around the roof bars

Thanks for help chaps, will play this weekend - squirted a high pressure hose reel at it last night while at work and not a drop so I guess it was the duration of the rain and the angle the car was parked - but would rather fix now rather than in the winter!

Not a sunroof model, will follow Ertins link.

Cheers

Yes freelance, you would think so wouldn't you! When I did exactly as you did the first time, I looked for another leak point but couldn't find one. I took the outer trim off again, poured water on the metal plate and in the water went. So I removed the plate, put tape over the nylon inserts and tried again. No leaks. So what to do? I put enough silicon sealer on the first time round. I did notice that there was already some sealing tape over the nylon inserts but it was cracked. I thus embarked on the procedure explained in my other post. basa77 by all means try freelances suggestion, but don't put the plastic trim back until you are sure the leak is cured. Best of luck. Eric.
