Freelander 1 Wet carpet

The water I had in the cab on drivers side front seat area and rear seat area with only a little in the cubby hole in the rear was very clean. I have checked the coolant and I am not losing any at all.
If it was coolant, it would be a reddish colour.

I have gone over it again with a hosepipe in various places today and no sign of any leak.
I have one more area to check with the hose tomorrow.

Has the FAQ section broken again?

The carpet where the jack is stored in my FL is also wet In fact there is a puddle of water in the well. Where it's coming from I ain't got a clue.

Isn't that a design feature for the goldfish? I thought all Freelanders came with that as standard.

Funny you should say that. There is a small tear in the bottom of the seal. Are they easily replaceable by an idiot or will I have to get it fitted?

5hit the door seal is well expensive. Has anyone drilled a few holes in the recessed box to let the water out? is this an option and what damage if any will it cause?........................thanks

Is the petrol/diesel tank under there? If not then not far away.

See it you can repair the damaged profile ... I've put a piece electrical cable sleeving inside a door seal before to re-profile a torn piece ...

Some people do drill a couple of holes in the cubby floor to let the water out. It's a complete bodge and will only end up costing more to fix the inevitable rust than replacing the door seal in the first place.

What I find strange it that the carpet and all around it is totally dry but the cubby hole is full of water. Weird.

Maybe but a lot of it. I did read on another site that condensation will occur because the heat from the exhaust is right underneath where the puddle is

We just bought a Freelander and that well is full of water, haven't had a chance to explore the reason yet, but door seal sounds top of the list

Easy solution is to drill a hole to let the water out and let air circulate a bit ...
Not if you are going wading though ...

Think you're right although Nodge68 doesn't agree. The back window is full of condensation whenever I use the car. 1x10mm hole should do it. I'll try and treat the hole with some sort of rust proofer.

It's a known thing ... some say it's due to blocked vents so there is no through flow of air ...
Have a look around the forums to get an overview ...

Reading on another forum some guy cut the carpet out of the cubby box because he reckoned that was the cause of the condensation and the problem went away. The heat from the exhaust was causing condensation making the carpet wet. Well today I cut the square of carpet out that lies in the cubby box just leaving exposed metal so will see if that works hopefully fingers crossed. If not the drill is coming out

get some body to spray water on the underside of the boot as a few have suffered from the welded seals going
