Started the 90 up the other day and heard a strange noise. Stopped engine , popped the bonnet and....

Lo and behold it was trying a self service oil change, well removing the oil on its own.

Seems the head of the oil pressure switch had decided to come off the body. Ony two years old and it was a "g" sufffix part.

Thankful it did not happen at high speed or a place where the oil could cause an issue.

Cheers

What did the noise sound like? You did well hearing it over the engine turning over!

Bearmach..?
Cannot remember, know it was not BP but it had a G suffix.

I chose a G suffix after two units failed after playing on the off road site at Billling and made the dash light show red. It had been fine for two years until it popped its top.

Was quite loud after turning the ABBA down. Imagine a pump pulsing while dumping lots of fluid very quickly.

Cheers

If this has happened twice before are you sure there isnt another issue causing it?
And suffix G doesnt really mean anything really, it just means it has a G infront of a part number. Say the part number is nrc1234, put a g in front of that and you have GNRC1234, that makes it a different number to a Land Rover genuine part number, which means it could be a Chinese chocolate bar.

As I have said it was not the same failure mode..please read, the previous ones only showed the dash light when engine running...

Suffix, means after .....you are talking about prefix. get it right. You been smoking again?
