Weling a P38, what to disconnect???

Battery of course, other than that, everything important 'should' be sheilded from the effects of Mig.. but I would definately be removing or at least unplugging the sensitive BeCM.. it doesn't need any excuse to lose sync with the engine control unit!
 
When I was putting a winch on my p38, I asked the same question on rangerovers.net.

I have had a previous bad experience when I spiked an engine ECU destroying it.

The official L/R advice is to disconnect ALL the ECUs.

This seems over the top to me. I would have thought disconnecting the battery, engine ECU and BECM would be enough.
