What do you use for snipping the 3mm plate- sounds quite thick.

3mm is easiest cut with a plasma cutter or a gas axe but you will end up with slag
if you do much work with snips or shears you will end up looking like popeye!

i int noticed , i use those long handle shears, the foot print ones, not yer cheap **** , they dunt give yer bad wrists either,
but the grinder or gas is a lot easier
i had a set of record ones about a foot long after cutting sheet fer a while yer still know ya done it
ah kno, but it dunt bother me really , tis called work , its a rare thing now and a lot of people dunt kno awt about it
its better if yer grip the bottom handle in a big engineers vice and pull down on the top one, use them as a bench shear, if yer got loads to do
