my disco 1 will need the boot floor welding for mot this year ive got a sheet of mild steel that will do the whole thing in one peice hopefully but its only 1.3 mm thick would this be man enough for the job or not any thoughts welcome:confused:

Don,t know if it's thick enough. The boot floor gets most of it's strength from beeing ribbed or if you like corrigated ridges, running along length ways.IF you are gonna do all the floor, you might as well put a propper floor in.

yeah looked at it again and i think its to thin for the job in hand might save it for the inner wings instead:rolleyes:

The boot floor is not an mot fail in itself.
Weld in some more bearers if are worried about the metal you have for the floor.

I cut out the whole flood on my 300tdi and riveted on an aluminium sheet then wax oiled over it. Passed the mot without mention.

I am a bit confused about boot floors,My disco had a 6x3in hole usual place rear o/s floor, and is one of the reasones for failing mot.

The boot floor is not structural.
When I started my disco I had three pages of fails on the mot, mostly rust, but no mention of the boot floor that was not much of a floor any more.

i will have a look at yrm and see what prices are like, the steel i have was just kicking around at work so i thought i might save myself some money thats all
