Hey blokes,

Had the old girl in for a service and it ended up that the immobilizer started working and I couldn't get it to stop as the key fob is fooked.

After investigation, it seems that rather than both the fuel pump and started motor being cut by the immobiliser, it's just the starter motor.

A mechanic pal has rigged it up so that immobiliser is now by passed and the starter motor is direct to the ignition so I can now start her.

Is this the right way around it? As a complete novice, I don't wanna do anything that might cause other problems??

It seems also that the key fob is working but the signals not being picked up?

Your help would be appreciated with these questions.

Thanks guys

Model year of your disco would help as there are two systems.
There's lot of info a ready in the forum regarding immobilisers for both the D1 and how to bypass and using the emergency access code and also issues with fobs.

if the immobiliser is only killing the starter motor and you have had it bypassed then it should be ok. I believe the key fob is retuned to the receiver by hitting the button 8 times on the single button fob. I'll have to find the instructions to confirm this unless someone on here has a better idea of the syncing procedure

Yes please-any more info on re synching it will be GREAT!!! It's a bloody pain as it is now-especially when I'm trying put my 10 month old in the car!!!

It's a 95 m reg with a single button fob.

Cheers!

Oh dear here we go again, if your immobiliser has been bypassed then the engine will be remobilised so will start straight away.

If not then u don't need a fob as u can remobilise with the key in the drivers door lock.
You can't re sync a single button fob only program, the program sequence is only required for a replacement fob and that info is in the forum, some searching is required as I and a few other owners have posted the info before.
