Don't know if its connected or not, but the other day I had to use gentle force to close the tailgate on a bit of luggage that was a tight squeeze to fit in. When I went to the drivers door, it wouldn't open. The button was up, but it was like the door was locked. There then followed all sorts of fun and games with the key, the key fob, the door button, the alarm bleeping, them going off, etc, etc, as I tried to solve the problem. It's now turned into an intermittent fault. What happens is, when I use the key fob to unlock the car, the button goes up and the central locking actuates and everything else unlocks. But the drivers door wont open unless I open the rear passenger door and reach over and pull up on the drivers door button. It only moves a fraction of an inch, as its already in the up position, but that's enough to get the door open without all the fun and games with the alarm.
I did search and can't find anything like this problem. Most other problems are either broken door springs or central locking not working at all, neither of which are the same as my little problem. Any ideas? (1997 300tdi)
Thanks 😳
