weighed down

hi to all. just wondered if anyone is familiar with the round weight alledgedly attached to the disco 200tdi front axle alongside the diff. saw it in a magazine earlier this week its supposed to quiten noise vibrations from the axle. my 1990 3 door tdi hasn't got one. so i was wondering if it should have or if indeed any of the 200 tdi's did or is article wrong? it looks like the type of weight used for weightlifting bolted to a bracket on the diff. any advice appreciated

I have one on mine, don't know if it makes any difference though

I wondered what that thing was, well now I know, but I couldn't say if it makes any difference.
