Hiya,

I recently bought my first landy (1960 SII) the previous owner hadnt taken too much care of her, the rear diff was as dry as a bone (now see why) she cries fluid from every orifice. It's got a perkins 3.9 ltr engine and pulls like a chippendale in an essex night club, but has little top speed.

My question is, should I change the diffs for RR ones to lengthen the gearing a bit and hopefully fix the horrendous existing backlash at the same time and redo the hub seals or simply fix what I have? I dont ever use 4wd so could I do the rear then the front afterwards?

Is the diff the same front as rear, or is a rear only a rear etc

Is there a specific type I'd need beyond I guess it being the same number of splines? bloke on fleabay with one not too far from here

10 spline diff landrover 90 110 and disco on eBay, also, Land Rover, Car Parts, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 31-Jul-08 08:39:02 BST)

Sorry for so many questions (nooobie) :)

Cheers

Miles
