Hello,
anyone fitted one of these, but used as a radiator heater instead of pre engine coolant heater ?

We are going in harms way to cold climates and need ideas on internal heating solutions.

Steve.

Thats good, did it have an expansion tank that you can remember.

Six rads... Blimy I only need one, two at a push to heat the landie in nasty conditions lol

bit of a heavy solution webasto or eberspacher blower better choice unless you intend you use as a engine preheater as well JMHO

Had one on a boat with rads and it worked a treat. You do need an expantion tank with it. Don't quote me on this but if you only have one rad you may have problems with it cycling on and of to regularly?

Having used the hot air system as well, my preference would be to go for the hot air blower- although the rad option is good for drying clothes which could be a bonus in your circumstances?

Thanks for the replies...Mmmmmm i think in reality the weight of the rads/water heater would be heavier than a standard blower.

Now i have narrowed it down a bit....do i go for:

Truma Fixed Gas heaters for caravans and motorhomes uk
these require no power whats ever and run on butane or propane

http://www.propexheatsource.co.uk/air-heaters.php
A propex (propane/butane) blower type heater

Or a webasco/eberspacher diesil cab type blower heater

Anyone tried the trauma, its basically a fully vented gas fire for camper vans, mobile caravans etc that can either use a fan(uses 12v) or normally aspirated lol

Cheers all,

steve.

i had a propex on my boat and changed it for a websto warm air. It was good, but a bit greed on the gas.

had a eberspacher deisel heater in a vw lt I converted into a camper, heated the whole van to Tshirt temperature when i was in the alps at -15. would recomend one to anyone.

Yes 2x that I had one in my camper and lived in it through 2 winters and never got cold ! ace bit of kit , wish i had taken it out for my Disco :p

I have an ex mod 110 with a 2.5 n/a and there fore have lots of engine bay room. Is it ok to fit these units in the engine bay, and duct the heating pipe either through the bulkhead or underneath and into the cab, with temperature stat and controls inside the cab as well ?

Talking thermo tops...
Ps if the thermo top has its own water pump, with the engine off, will the landy water pump allow water "through" it if its not moving ?
Cheers
steve.
