Does anyone out there know of a decent reputable garage near Selby that will waxoyl Keith? (keith is the name given to my Discovery by the wife and kids. Sooooo embarrasing.)

I suppose it was getting underneath it to get all the crap of. And don't fancy two and a half ton falling on me! lol

Not really. It took me 26 years to achieve my dream of owning a Landy they can call it what they want. To me it's my pride and joy and Keith actually suits it! lol

Well at least if you do your own, you know that somebody's attempted to scrape the crap off first rather than just sprayed black sticky stuff over the rust and caked on mud. Plus you'd know you haven't skimped on materials and actually got your Waxoyl into all the crevices. For the price of a professional job you could get a compressor, a squirty thing and plenty of stuff to squirt with it, and then you'd have the tools to do it again next time. That's what I shall be doing with mine later this summer anyway.

When you look at what outfits like Rustmaster or Before and After are charging (I'm sure their work is fine by the way) that's enough for a compressor and an awful lot of rustproofing compound. I think I might try Dinitrol myself. But I have tax renewal, MOT and insurance renewal coming up so I won't be getting busy with this until later in the summer.

Just MoT'd mine and she will be getting it done soon. If anyone wants to bulk buy waxoyl I have tools and space to work :-D

1. Year
2. Mileage
3. What part of the country it lives in/lived in

I have had my 2003 disco for 6 years now. when I first got it I had it waxoiled by someone else. Last year I did it again myself.

The advantage of doing it yourself is it will be done better I guess.
It will also be a lot cheaper.
The disadvantage is the "doing" part
I spent the whole august bank holiday doing it.
Day 1 laying in the water from the pressure washer
Day 2 and 3 with rust treatment then Dinitrol running down my arms
and dripping in my hair.

Now,,, I would do it again and will be doing my Lightweight (Norman) this year.
It is rewarding you could say but probably not FUN.

See clip 7 on my video page to see one reason why I don't think a diy job will work on a D2 unless it is in exception condition - and you will have to re-do it every year or so.

why would you want to waxoyl a disco?

you will just end up with a mint chassis and some seats as the rest will just rust away around it!

Someone once told me when looking to buy a discovery that the worst hit places are "anywhere between the headlights and the towbar" says it all really. :doh:

Very amusing but not strictly true. What you say is absolutely true of the Discovery 1 but not of the Discovery 2. I think we know which one you drive.
