Hi guys, I spent this morning WaxOyl-ing my discovery 2. Definitely worth doing if you want your disco to last. It will kill any existing rust and prevent new rust forming. Although it says you should spray it on, I brushed it, and it is just as good. I didn't even need to jack it up, they're so tall. A 5 litre tin of WaxOyl cost me just £30. MUCH cheaper than a new chassis section if it rusted through.

One piece of advice I would give is, try to buy the Clear one, rather than the Black one. With the clear one, you can still monitor any corrosion on the Chassis. Make sure you scrape and brush any mud or flakey rust off, so that you are left with the bare metal. I recommend you ALL do this to your Landys, if you want them to last.

Hi, I said hello as a newbie on the forum but no bugger said hello back - mebbe cos I have a Disco now that I sold the S11A that was forever breaking down...lol I have a V reg TD5 ES and I'm stuck in bloody Provence where it is baking hot. I figured I could use this opportunity to paint the chassis as my Landy is totally mint and now dry as a bone, chassis has rust mind (whats new...). Did you wire brush / drill brush it all off and was 5 litres enough? Cheers for the post as it was just what I was thinking about doing and you look like you have answered my question. Sub

Hi, I just used a wire brush and a paint scraper to scrape the loose rust off. Once you've got it to a paintable condition (no bits of rust falling off) just paint on the WaxOyl and it should kill the old rust whilst preventing new rust. 5 litres was enough, in fact more than enough, I still had enough left to do my wife's car and the trailer!

Well I can think of worse things than being "stuck in Provence" wax oiling a landy.
