I want to waxoyl the chassis on my 90. I was thinking about buying the starter kit & extention nossel with 2.5ltr tin off ebay for about 30 quid. Im sure 2.5ltr will not be enough, how much will I need to do the job?
Any hints or advice will be appreciated.
Thanks Ian:)

10 LITRES!
ffs - how thick do you put it on - 2 inches?
2.5 litres will do the chassis, but you might need a bit more to squirt into all the orifices.
30 quid is waaayyyyy too dear. try yer local motor factors, it'll be cheaper.

Once you have taken a little out, add some white spirit (or similar - diesel would do too), good for getting it to run into all the little nooks and crannies in the chassis.

I did my first internal coat with a good bit of white spirit in it, sprayed it in with a shutz gun and didn't stop spraying until a brown mist appeared from the holes at the other end of the chassis.

Let it dry for a bit then give it a sort of proper thick coat. It was much easier for me because at the time it was a rolling chassis and there were LOTS of places to get the waxoyle in.

You can even do your bulkhead if you take the bonnet stop bungs out the front of the bulkhead, you can get that channel section which will run down the door pillars, then you can get some more in from the bottom and the interior light door pillar switch hole. Give areas where the wheel spray hits a good clean so it adheres were and isn't easily chipped off and give it a few coats.

Preparation is probably more important that putting the stuff on, get it really clean, jet wash, wire brush, jet wash again, or take it to your local truck depot and get them to steam clean it for you, or give them £10 and get a shot of the machine.

Any rusty areas, sand/grind down to bare metal and give it a few coats of a good primer.

You can do your axles with waxoyle too.

High class retailer of things you don't really ened but HAVE to buy coz they're giveaway prices. It turns you into a doris in that respect!

Hi,

I use this on my Series and 110;

Shell Ensis PW 265
Wax film solvent deposit
Shell Ensis PW 265 is a solvent deposited, water displacing, wax film corrosion
preventive.

Designed by Shell for North Sea oil rigs, used by both the UK/US military. Excellent stuff, actually forces water/moisture out of the metal, and seeps through welds/joints etc.

Costs £90 for 20L drum (minimum buy), will do loads of chassis and anything else tht's metal. Let me know if you want more info, not sure of the rules about posting phone numbers and product details.

Cheers
