Wave Etiquette

I'll wave at other Land Rovers from my Rangie, and will give way to Land Rovers when driving my car.

I'd a lady in a silver defender county on the m3 yesterday so excited I'd initiated a wave she nearly fell out her defender bless her, did make me smile

The people in clean landrovers don't wave back to people in muddy/modified ones bastids!

I waved at a clean disco one and the guy just gave me a look of WTF


A series waved at me though :')

Street people are the best waves head turners are even better.
What ****es me off is the lifting the few fingers wave because they can't be botherd to lift their hand wave.

If its muddy, has a snorkle or kit on it you generally get a wave round here.

I always wave (to other Defenders) unless I'm doing something important like steering, changing CDs, or applying make-up (unlikely). In the country, probably about 80% return. In town about 20%. When I stayed in the north of Scotland the one finger wave was the norm. Also look as dour as you can. After time I mastered it. And I was born in Scotland.

So, i've not figured this out yet, as a prospective defender owner, am I allowed to "practice wave" and if so, is there particular type of wave I should follow (besides the "you git you've got one and I aint" wave??)

thought id revive this thread

while i was out and about with the series today i musta seen at least a dozen other landys mainly late LWB series and deffenders and evry one waved or smiled as i bounced past it seems i have a fair few admirers in me local area ........wel err mini does anyway

is it inappropriate to wave like this? :crazy: :der:

So as a Range Rover driver am I exempt from the wave? I do not recall ever receiving one, nor have I seen any Defender drivers giving a wave to each other. Is it perhaps a regional thing?

dont count these as actual rules but what i gather from experience it applies to any vehicle that bears the green oval badge but the complications seem to appear with the newer models

the ol tratters and deffenders seem to be driven by peeps of a nostalgic frame of mind and seem to be happy motorists

then the discos and rangies wich seem to be more modern and stately than the tratter mob and are of probably a higher status and class than mere mortals like me dont wave back and just look at us funny like ive just stuck 2 fingers up at them

and the gaylanders i darent wave at so cant comment on that part of the landy market

Nobody expects to see us waving from the back seat. You might get more response if you can train your butler to wave.
I tried but failed, he's too much of a snob to wave at 'lesser' vehicles.

you need a chauffer not a friggin butler ........ see what i mean .......there aint no such thing as halfway toffs

One will continue pestering ones chauffeur to wave at the pheasants in their lesser Land Rovers, perhaps one will gain an appropriate response in due course.

Personally, the risks involved with waving at an Ewok driver are too high. Can't be too cautious with Ewoks.

Don't you know that there's a recession?
Things are tight all round.

At the moment the under-butler is having to double up as my chauffeur.
