Hi there i have a 2001 freelander with the k serise engine and yes iv had the head gasget done butt im still loseing water i seam to have a leek from behind/ under the inlet manifold does anyone now what this could be.

many thanks Dan

Never heard of a vegetable near the inlet manifold before :p

On a serious note, did the engine overheat before the head gasket was done? You might want to get it pressure tested. If it overheated there may be a crack in the head?

How long ago was your HG done, initial thought is that its the HG letting water out - if the HG goes its not forced to let water into bores/oil passages, it can just a easily be blown out the side eating away at the gasket as it goes.

My other though is it could be the head - only needs the smallest damage and water can be blown out if there isn't a very good seal on one of the cylinders

Might be lucky, might be a core plug in that area, not sure though, will consult RAVE in a minute.

Strip down may be in order unless anyone else can come up with anything else, It's nealy 9 months since I touched a 1.8k series.

Hi below the inlet manifold you have a coolent rail which connects to the plastic thermostat housing at either end of this there is a rubber o ring get a mirror and have a look down there one of those may be weeping, it may not leak when your engine is cold, but when its up to normal operating temp it may as the cooling system is then under pressure. hope this helps..

Right thanks for the help iv just had a look and it seam to be leaking from the inlet manifold theres a pipe the goes from the coolent pot to the inlet manifold, when the head gasget went the head was a new one and it was done about 12mounths ago.
