Hi I keep getting water in my fuel. My fuel filter is always cloudy and my engine is running rough.

does anyone know how to remove water from petrol? and how do i keep getting this happen?

thanks

Hi

Not sure how to keep it from happening, but you will have to drain the whole tank. Can't think of a way for the water get in except if there is something broken somewhere. Maybe the petrol cap, fuel pump? The fuel pump has a big flange to keep it in position, maybe that is cracked or broken?

Not much help.....................

not buying fuel from tesco are you? i have to buy fuel from esso or sainsbury, any other than tesco.
i had an issue with their fuel not so long ago,i would try another supplier or check your tank connections,or leaks from your tank corrosion and the like.

If you drain out the fuel and leave it to stand then the water will separate out and you will see two distinct layers of liquid through the side of the drum (assuming its clear plastic) then just siphon off....simples:)

Should not make any difference (unless there is water in the petrol station tank before the petrol was delivered in which case loads of people would have same problem) because reqardless of which petrol brand you use the fuel will come from the same (most local) depot. This is after an agreement by the petrol retailers to share depots to cut back on transport costs. So you tesco fuel is the same as at Sainsburys , Shell. Bp etc. And before anyone says I use Shell Optimax or similar so that must come from a Shell depot, it doesnt. The "special" ingredients are added to the tanker itself after the driver has loaded the fuel.
So basically unless you buy the premium fuels the rest are the same so buy from where its cheapest!
