Hi everyone, the rains have come and most of it seems to be going in my boot. I had 2 inches of water in the rear locker had to drill a couple of holes to let the water out. The carpet is drying out indoors, the water seems to accumulate under the drivers side back seat under the side window everywhere else seems dry, is there a way to adjust window to pull in tighter, or are there any other suggestions to the cause. Thanks Gerry :(

Hello m8, from reading the forums, this seems to be a very common issue, especially with the 3 doors, have a search using the key word 'cubby' and you will find plenty to read

P.S.

I bought a 3 door sport yesterday and had some water in the cubby, although the rest of the boot carpet seemed dry

usually caused by the seal on the rear door. you can either a) buy a whole new seal and fit it b) try saving yourself a few quid by pulling the old one (carefully) completely off, then re-fitting it. As it goes back in a slightly different postition, it seems to seal again.

worked on mine.

I drilled a few drain holes in mine & totally removed the rear carpet. Next I bought an original Landrover rubber boot mat for £35 from ebay. I used dinitrol on the holes I drilled then painted the cubby hole & exposed area under the back seat (which the mat doesn't cover) with black liquid plastic from Frost restoration. Next, I used silicon sealant across the floor from side to side to prevent any water from finding a path under the back seats to the rear footwells. Finally, I covered the entire boot floor with a generous coating of waxoyl (which smelled rotten for a week till it totally dried). Now with the mat in place it looks not too bad & any water which does get in will drain out through the holes in the cubby box. It beats spending the £300+ for the three seals associated with the 3 door tailgate.
