Wastegate actuator

Hi, just getting to grips with the 300 tdi in my disco. If I rev the engine, should I see the wastegate actuator arm move?

not AFAIK, turbo makes very little pressure unless under load, think ive seen 4psi on mine if I rev it really hard.
Runs max 18psi under load.
AFAIK wastegate controls max boost, so wouldn't move till you got near 18psi.

If you are worried that it doesn't move just unclip the arm from he actuator and move the wastegate by hand. It should move really easily. The actuator arm should also move in and out of the actuator but this is very stiff as it's under a spring compression.

If you are not getting boost when driving then there is a little pipe that comes from the injector pump that (I think) actuates the actuator. Just make sure that this pipe is undamaged.

nope, that pipe increases fuelling from the pump as boost increases.

So what actuates the actuator?

afaik its just the boost pressure.
boost pressure pushes against one end of the arm, arm acts upon the rod rod opens the wastegate
