Hi all

My front washer jets have stopped working. The rear jet is working ok there is plenty of water in the bottle. If i take the pipe off to the front jets and try the washers i can hear the pump running and also the pipe moves when i do this. any ideas as to what could be up with it.Also how do i get to the washer bottle to check the pipe work

Thanks for your help in advanced

It happened in the past that the plastic T-pieces are cracked. You can try to remove them and connect the tube straight to the washerunit ? If the washers themselves are blocked (or the first one) try to clean with a fine needle.

i have taken the pipe to the jets just to see if the water comes out of the pipe there is nothing but i can hear the pump running

Than it looks as there's an obstruction in the pipe ? Did you try to remove it from the pump and blow through it ??

The water reservoir is behind the bumper, on the right hand side, in front of the wheel. I undone the bolts round the wheel arch/bumper, and eased the end of the bumper away from the car. You can get yer hand in to pull the pump out. There's 2 of them. 1 front window, 1 rear wind.

The pump pick up could be clogged too. I had this on my BMW recently. Years of old washer fluid had turned to jelly and clugk to the gauze filter.

Holy thread resurrection

This search function really does work...

I had trouble with mine this morning, not much more than a dribble from the drivers side, not even reaching the screen at 60 Mph just been out to look this evening and you were correct, split in the L shaped connector, removed it and connected the pipe direct and all four are now going over the roof...:D

Trusty pin in action and all is good again..;)

Would you bother replacing the cracked L shaped bit??
or just leave it as it is??

Been there done that. Why there is an elbow in the pipe is beyond me?? I left it off and it works fine.

Does anyone know if the heated washer jets from a Freelander 2 would fit a Freelander 1 bonnet.
I know that it would require an electrical connection but that should be easy to attach in parall to the heated mirrors

Read this last night and this morning as luck would have it I ended up parking next to a fl2. Which reminded me about your question. The fl2 washer jets are generally bigger all round and certainly almost twice as long. Had a look on fleabag and seen some in there, and it looks like a little filing of the hole might be needed. Only thing you can do is buy one and see. Thought about doing that myself now. Probably rig it up to the rear window switch.

Iirc the some Rover 25s had heated washer jets that could well fit the same size hole.

Having looked at the ones on fleabag the base of the jets are quite blocky probably to houses the heater stuff unlike what we have on our at the moment it is just a nozzle for the pipe to fit to.
