hi get a load of this.
i drove my 1999 range rover 4.6 petrol from Bulgaria to the uk
Newcastle covering 2000 miles December 2008. i limped back as
airflow meter had packed up. when back i put into rover dealer in
Sunderland for repair. they fitted new one and fitted a new battery
and did some diagnostics. cost me 320 quid. they also did a full
check on other things they thought should be done. list to long to
put in this correspondence. the cost to do these other things would
be 1000 quid. i did not go a head. i picked range rover up and
set of to drive back to Bulgaria ( this was in January) but 100
miles down the road a bad oil leak. so i had to take it to a garage
in Wakefield. i give them the list the other rover dealer give me
and they checked it over and said the leak was bad and a lot
of the things on the list could do with been done. how much i said
they said 500 quid i said do it. mean while i had got a flight
back to Bulgaria. while i was there they done all the jobs. i
arrived back 10 days later picked the rover up all done sounding
very nice. drove it away got about 2 miles from Newcastle and the
suspension stopped working it went to its lowest level. i drove
at the recommended 30mph and got home. the next day i put into
rover in Sunderland and they tell me all is bad but can be fixed
for 1000 quid. i am now starting to think every thing on a range
rover is 1000 quid. for this they would fit four new suspension
legs at 160 pounds each so for the parts which is 640 pounds and do
the diagnostic plus labour for the rest. i am now taking it back
to the man in Wakefield as he said the parts are 60 ponds each and about
100 pound labour.
anyway after all this i still love my range rover and hopefully will
be driving it back to Bulgaria some time next week.
is that a nightmare story or what.
