I've seen the comprehensive description of how to replace the fascia on my p38 but i haven't got the time or the money and i'm unlikely to get the parts because i'm in the back end of beyond RR scrappers wise so....

has anyone got any suggestions as to how I should stick down my warped dashboard? It's warped right next to the blower vent for the windscreen on both sides (strangely the middle vent is unaffected). I was thinking superglue or silicone sealant both both threaten to be messy!

All suggestions welcome :)

This applies to the Rover 800, but the problem and cure is exactly the same:

Dash

Only thing I'd add is when I did mine (Rover 800) I used a combination of superglue and the best brand of extra-strong No More Nails, depending on what seemed like the appropriate solution to me at the time. I've done a few bits on my P38, but not really attacked the whole thing properly yet.

The quality of plastic in the dash's skeleton on a P38 seems noticably inferior to that on a Rover 800 - it's thinner, more brittle etc. So I'd have some of the strongest modelmaker's plastic solvent (the clear liquid, not the "Airfix glue"...also it must stick ABS) to hand to stick your dash frame back together before resticking the foam...

Hope that helps?

Won't work I'm afraid. The best you can do is warp it back. You have to remove the dash, strip it and then stick it in a moderate kiln (a paint booth might do) and use weights and clamps to gradually bend it back. Its a one time only solution and risky at that because the plastic is terribly brittle and gets more so in Asia where sunlight has more UV.
