warning light comming on intemittant on dash

hi .I have a 3.5v8 r/r classic 1988 auto. over last few days been having a red warning light flash at me only when I go over bumps or turn so thinking must be fluid low on something. description its shaped like a jerry can with a fan sign on front.i was thinking low coolant but the wires arnt connected as the spade connection has broken on the cap part. .any ideas on this please.

Yes. It is connected to a float on the cap of the expansion tank.
The light goes on when the float is at the bottom of its travel or when the wires to the cap loose continuity. Check the connection on the cap. And the fluid level, because it just may be doing its job.

West slope, i think your trouble shooting may be superfluous

You could give up the rambling and try offroading instead !
