Hi,
I've lost power from my turbo recently & suspect the turbo hose (from air box to turbo) part no. ntc2660.
Does anyone have a replacement or know of somewhere i can get one cheap?
Thanks in advance,
Colin.

Thanks Badger.
Probably a silly question but is it normal for the hose to come into contact with oil-from the breather etc.?
Col.

Had a look, but alas i don't have it anymore, sorry bud. People are swapping the engines for 200Tdi's etc a fair bit so keep your eyes open in the Defender section anorl.

As for it coming into contact with oil, yes it's fairly normal, mine served on my 19J and the first 200Tdi which ejected more oil than exhaust fumes

O.K. mate-thanks for looking.
I found a layer of oil on top of the air filter box & i wasn't sure if it's normal for the turbo hose to be carrying oil- that's put my mind at rest-ta.
All the best,
Col.

Some people us a captcha can on the end of the oil breather, i know Pos ( member on here ) has a nice looking one, give it a search in the defender section.

If you wish to save replacing the air filter more than usual, then a captcha can is a good idea, or alternatively disconnect it from the airbox altogether ;)

Hmmm, if i can disconnect the airbox from the turbo altogether, would i be right in assuming the turbo fault has nothing to do with the hose?
Cheers,
Col.

My apologies, i thought you mentioned the rocker breather pipe, for that you can disconnect from the airbox.

If your air box to turbo pipe is showing signs of oil then it's likely the turbo output shaft seal has gone, a simple way to check is remove the pipe from the turbo and give the shaft inside the turbo a wiggle. If it shows signs of damage to the outside of the blades and has play in the shaft ( sideways/up/down movement ) then it will be time for a new or replacement turbo, there are folk who have stripped their turbo down and replaced parts but it's not a straight forward job as such.

If it's a 19J engine then you can pick them up fairly cheap enough ( complete engines ) with the turbos still on them.

A downside to the 19J is the heat generated by the lack of intercooler, this can ( and does! ) cause cracks within the turbo body ( i've had 2 cracked, my current one has a hairline crack ) which in turn can cause problems within the turbo housing of seals etc.

O.K, Thanks Badger-i'll do some more investigating but i'm fairly sure i may be looking at a new turbo........bummer.
