Hi all, the 110 is putting on weight all the time. Dog box, dogs, Mrs + kids, stalking kit, tools...you get the picture. Have had a little tweak but plan to properly tune pump and turbo to give the porky gal a little more mojo. Does anyone have an uprated intercooler that are no longer using?...perhaps collecting dust in the shed or being used as a bookend somewhere?

Based as the name would suggest in Cornwall so please factor in either you need to be local or happy to post...happy motoring

Thanks Shimsteriom ...Appears I don’t yet have the privileges required to post in classified section Bugger...

I will keep posting away and getting involved and admin will assist

You're still a relative newbie so you might not be allowed for the moment.

Have a wander around the forum and make some posts and you'll soon be allowed in.

TBH I thought there was another area which newbies could put Wanted posts but I can't find it myself... :rolleyes:

EDIT: here it is.

Thanks Lynall, I’ve been doing my homework. I had not really realised what an intercooler did to be honest until I picked up the landy. I knew it was related to the turbo but not how it functioned.

I am not expecting more power from the intercooler but would from tweaking the pump & turbo. I’m just not sure the old gal will like me doing that without countering the extra heat.

My 200 runs cold almost all the time so I’m not sure I need one but seems like most folk fit a larger intercooler when modding the fuelling?

When I replaced my intercooler last year I did a bit of research.
I looked into fitting a larger more volume cooler but unless you are going the whole hog with more than a tweak of the fuel injection pump, pushing up the turbo pressure, remade turbo with bigger impeller then there is little point in fitting a bit larger intercooler. With a that much increase you need to go full width. A friend has done this with his 300 and it goes like stink but have heard that doing this to a 200 is not a good idea.
As I was not looking for a power boost I just fitted a brand new cooler and I recon it did improve performance a bit. Looking at the old cooler perhaps not surprising, half blocked and many missing and rotten fins.

No worries, I mentioned it as people get sucked into the shiny things are good department, and take some convincing that an intercooler alone wont make sod all difference.
Little tweak of the pump will transform the cars driveability, just keep an eye on the tailpipe for excess smoke, especially at night when it shows up most in following cars headlamps.
After you have twiddled inj pump/fitted cooler and maybe adjusted boost pressure, you are then onto the law of diminishing returns.

@TheCornishman - my 300 is tuned, with a FWIC.

It is definitely worth doing.

A guy called Jeremy Fearn used to do this for a living - and his website dealing with same was up long after he had moved on to other stuff - now changed :( ... might be worth a chat with him, as IIRC, the 200 needs tuning somewhat differently to the 300.
