:eek::eek: wow, thats the worst set of springs I have ever seen! did you never get underneath to check them?? Did you replace with 4 genuine ones or did you go aftermarket - i.e. Arnott??

-Wills :)

Mine LOOKED exactly like those, (no leaks) so last year I replaced all 4 to be on the safe-side, then I cut them open & found that all 4 were PERFECT inside!!

Still glad I changed them though, & it only took 90 mins to do all 4.:)

Yes I did, complete with squeezy bottle of soapy water. The main damage you can see was up in the "fold". When I tested them there was no apparent leak, but I think now that was because I jacked the car up which eased what ever pressure was in them.

I knew previously they were at least on the way out due to the cracking/perishing of the rubber on the fold and it was only when I spotted a small end of the casing thread hanging down and then jacked car right up to extend the bladders, I realised the full extent of the problem.

Hence whipped them straight off and replaced with Arnott Gen 2 springs...they get good press on Rangerovers.net......and currently all is smooth again, although I suspect a small leak in Air tank region as I am getting a couple of minutes delay in morning on EAS rising....more soapy water investigations this week-end.. before you ask, yes I have checked front springs and although OK currently would benefit from changing when wallet  cools off. Cheers
