I have a pretty stock 95 110, with a 300TDi. There's a few fords around the places I want to drive, but as a total novice I figured it best to seek advice - what do I need to do to her before driving her through up to 3 foot of water? Any prep? Do I need a snorkel?
Any tips on driving technique also appreciated!

Maximum wading depth for a defender (according to land rover) is just over 1.5 feet. I would definitely recommended a snorkel. You might also look into waterproofing electronics, and fitting breather extension pipes for the transfer case, but someone with more knowledge of that stuff than me will tell you about that stuff...

How deep are the fords? if they are less than 18 inches or 2 foot you'll be ok 2nd gear low box difflock (if the bottom isnt as solid as tarmac) Anything deeper you need to put your wading bungs in the timing case and bellhousing make sure your breather pipes are intact and high enough for the front and rear axle and both gearboxes.

snorkel and breathers but snorkel wond do anything if your filter case isnt sealed properly. :scratching_chin:
