Ive recently got meself a axle breather and wading plug set off ebay.It seems fairly decent for the money but ive got 2 questions.Firstly the axle breathers are supposed to be vented on a snorkel.Ive not got a snorkel so im gonna have to vent them as high as i can on the bulk head.Is this any improvement on the existing vents?Secondly ive got 2 wading plugs in the kit. These are for the bellhousing and timing cover drains.Well i dont really know what im looking for but have found one drain to plug.it looks to be the gear box bellhousing but where is the timing cover?thanks for your help.

The higher the vent pipes the less chance of sucking water into the axles. The axles are hot and when you go wading they cool rapidly on cantact with water. If the end of the vent pipe is below water it will suck water into the axle.

The timing cover is at the very front of the engine. get on your back and crawl under the from the front and the 1st thing you'll see as you pass the front of the engine is the timing cover drain hole. You may even find a wading plug already screwed in to the cover next to the drain hole.

cheers red.ive obivously gone under the car but i just dont know what im looking at so that helps alot!the original axel breathers terminate half way up the bulk head so i get a little bit more depth but the air intake is me main concern-dont wanna get that wet!

How important is it you do all this? If you just go through 18" of water on odd occasions do you need to plug the holes? What damage can be done if you get water in? Will it dry out?

you get water in the axles you wont get it out unless you drain all the ep90 and replace it.same for gear box i think.

to save folk on here a stack of $$$ i refer you all to my previous thread where i got the kit parts myself, selling the surplus back on ebay for the same cost so effectively making my wade kit free :D

enjoy the read. you only need to read upto the part numbers and then give them a call. for both axles and both boxes plus 30m of 6mm tube for 2 vehicles came to 30+postage. i did mine and sold a kit on ebay for 25 :D just double up on the conector bits and only use 15m of tube.
