wading bung / oil leak

Having removed a wading bung(thats been left in for a while by the previous owner who was into off-roading) there is oil seeping out but not from the hole but just to the side of it , right on seem / front of auto gearbox ,its defo oil & not transmission fluid, how much of a problem is this ? , is this a normal occourance ?

if its engine oil and not leaving a pool it will be alright ,check its not clutch fluid

im sure its oil , it dropped about a 3/4 tablespoon full in 60 mins today when it was warm , it looks a lot but im sure heavy oil spreads out a lot ?? im thinkin becuase of the wading bung being in it theres a build up that will come out once its been on a decent run ? right/wrong ?
